Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
In pursuit of economic development and growth, G-Tap shall provide leadership in
the fast-tracking Kenya’s adherence to key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and
Targets specifically focused on environmental sustainability:
GOAL 1
End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and
reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate- related extreme
events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and
disasters
GOAL 2
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and
promote sustainable agriculture
Ensure sustainable food production systems and implement resilient
agricultural practices that increase productivity and production, that
help maintain ecosystems, that strengthen capacity for adaptation to
climate change, extreme weather, drought, flooding and other
disasters and that
progressively improve land and soil quality
GOAL 3
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous
chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination
GOAL 4
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote
lifelong learning opportunities for all
Ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to
promote sustainable development, including, among others, through
education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles,
human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and
non-violence, global citizenship and
appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to
sustainable development
GOAL 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Undertake reforms to give women equal rights to economic
resources, as well as access to ownership and control over land and
other forms of property, financial services, inheritance and natural
resources, in accordance with national laws.
GOAL 6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, Halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially
increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.
GOAL 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
Ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy
services, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix, double the global rate of improvement in energy
efficiency
GOAL 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Improve progressively, through 2030, global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavor to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the 10-year
framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production,
with developed countries taking the lead, devise and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products
GOAL 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure,
including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support
economic development and human well-being, with a focus on
affordable and equitable access for all
GOAL 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries
Ensure equal opportunity and reduce inequalities of outcome,
including by eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices and
promoting appropriate legislation, policies and action in this regard
GOAL 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
Proportion of urban population living in slums, informal
settlements or inadequate housing
GOAL12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Implement the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable
consumption and production, all countries taking action, with
developed countries taking the lead, taking into account the
development and capabilities of developing countries
GOAL 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related
hazards and natural disasters in all countries
GOAL 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all
kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris
and nutrient pollution
GOAL 15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use
of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in
particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with
obligations under international agreements
GOAL 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and
ensure equal access to justice for all
GOAL 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
Enhance North-South, South-South and triangular regional and
international cooperation on and access to science, technology and
innovation and enhance knowledge-sharing on mutually agreed terms,
including through improved coordination among existing mechanisms,
in particular at the United Nations level, and through a global
technology facilitation mechanism
